Introduction
The Bachelor of Science in Cosmetic Sciences is a four-year (eight-semester), 132-credit-hour undergraduate degree program designed in accordance with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Undergraduate Education Policy, the National Qualifications Framework (NQF Level-6), and contemporary international standards in cosmetic sciences. The curriculum provides a balanced integration of foundational biomedical sciences, specialized cosmetic sciences, practical laboratory training, research, and industrial exposure to prepare graduates for careers in the cosmetic, cosmeceutical, pharmaceutical, and personal care sectors.
The curriculum is structured progressively across four years. The first year establishes a strong foundation in human anatomy, physiology, cosmetic biochemistry, cell biology, skin biology, immunology, microbial safety, communication, and quantitative reasoning. During the second year, students develop core competencies in cosmetic chemistry, formulation science, analytical techniques, cosmetic toxicology, cosmeceuticals, natural products, pharmacology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The third year emphasizes applied and advanced areas including cosmetic microbiology, quality control and assurance, cosmetovigilance, cosmetic endocrinology, skin diseases, biosafety, cosmetic artistry, color cosmetic technology, biostatistics, research methodology, and bioinformatics. In the final year, students gain expertise in industrial cosmetics, regulatory affairs, cosmetic marketing, industrial biotechnology, nutritional dermatology, sustainable and green cosmetics, packaging technology, cosmetic product development, and artificial intelligence applications in cosmetic sciences, culminating in an industrial internship and capstone research project.
The program employs an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach that combines classroom instruction with extensive laboratory training, case-based learning, product formulation, industrial exposure, and research activities. Graduates are equipped with the scientific knowledge, technical skills, ethical values, and entrepreneurial mindset required to develop, evaluate, manufacture, regulate, and market safe, effective, and sustainable cosmetic products while meeting national and international quality and regulatory standards.
Mission
The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Cosmetic Sciences at the School of Health Sciences, University of Management and Technology, is to educate and inspire future cosmetic scientists through excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and industry engagement. The program is dedicated to producing competent, ethical, and entrepreneurial graduates equipped with interdisciplinary knowledge in biomedical sciences, cosmetic formulation, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and emerging technologies. By promoting evidence-based practice, sustainability, critical thinking, and lifelong learning, the program prepares graduates to advance the cosmetic and personal care industry, safeguard consumer health, contribute to scientific discovery, and serve society through professional excellence and responsible leadership.

(Minimum Criteria for Admission)

Higher Secondary School Certificate (involving 12 years of schooling) or an IBCC equivalent qualification in pre-medical group with 45 % Marks is the basic eligibility requirement for admission in Bachelor of Science in COSMETIC SCIENCES
