Dr. Muhammad Salman Bashir joined UMT as a Dean and Professor in the School of Health Sciences - SHS on October 31, 2022. He also served as Head of Department Physical Therapy/Professor in Riphah International University, Lahore Campus. He had served as Associate professor and Associate Dean Post Graduate Programs & Research. He had also served as HOD Clinical Service and Training in Riphah International University, Lahore Campus. He worked as Associate professor and In-Charge Post Graduate Programs (MS/MPhil) in University of Lahore. He worked as Head of Department/Associate professor in Imperial College of Business Studies(ICBS). He had also served as In-Charge Post Graduate Programs & Research and Assistant Professor in Riphah College of Rehabilitation Sciences (RCRS) Lahore Campus.
He enhanced his qualification by earning PhD-Physical Therapy from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran. He did Post Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy (PP-DPT) from Riphah International University, Islamabad (Awarded equivalency of 18 years of schooling, Master/M.Phil by HEC). He enriched his qualification further with a Master of Philosophy in Physiotherapy from King Edward Medical University, Lahore & Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Ethics and Teaching Methodology (PGD, PE&TM) from Riphah International University, Islamabad. He is the Certified Allied Health Educationist. He did his BS Physiotherapy from School of Physiotherapy Mayo Hospital Lahore, King Edward Medical University, Lahore. He is the Gold Medalist throughout his academic career.
He provided his services in teaching, Research and clinical establishments of different Organizations, Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy, Jinnah Hospital, School of Allied Health Sciences, Children Hospital, Shifa International Hospital, Ganj Baksh Spinal Research and Rehabilitation Hospital Lahore, Imperial College of Business Studies(ICBS), Life Line Hospital and Revive Spine and Pain Relief clinic.
He provided services as an adjunct faculty member in paramount universities around Pakistan in particular King Edward Medical University, Lahore and University of Health Sciences, Lahore. He secured pivotal roles in these organizations for the profound uplifting of academic, conjectural, literary and research projects as a scholarly professional and researcher.
He has supervised more than 85 research theses; 75 research publications in National and International Journals including Impact Factor. He was elected as Finance Secretary of Punjab Chapter of Pakistan Physical Therapy Association for 2011-2015 and General Secretary for 2018-2020. A clinician having almost 15 years’ experiences of clinical practices and mentorships during which he mastered and taught advanced manual therapy and research skills. His achievements include winning US $5766/-, winning the Gold Scholarship in the context of foreign scholarship, and winning a Gold medal in BS.PT, PP.DPT and M.Phil.PT, distinction in the subject of "Physical Therapy."
