About the Program:

The program of Optometry and Vision Sciences offers a comprehensive program in BS Optometry and Vision Sciences. It is dedicated to providing students with a strong foundation in the field of optometry, vision sciences, and eye care. The department of Clinical Services is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and a team of experienced faculty members who are committed to delivering high-quality education and training to aspiring optometrists.

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum 50% Marks in Intermediate / A-Level or equivalent (Pre-Medical) and no 3rd division in Matriculation + Minimum 50% marks in admission Test + Interview.

Vision:

To be a center of excellence in optometric education and vision science, recognized for producing visionary professionals who lead advancements in eye care, contribute to community well-being, and uphold the values of ethical practice, innovation, and lifelong learning.

Mission:

To educate and train students to become skilled and compassionate optometrists who can contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities through the provision of high-quality eye care through excellence in teaching, research, and clinical practice, while promoting the importance of vision health and its impact on overall quality of life.

Aim:

The aim of the BS Optometry and Vision Sciences program is to equip students with a solid understanding of the principles and practices of optometry. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical training, the program aims to develop students' skills in assessing, diagnosing, and managing various eye conditions and vision disorders. Additionally, the program emphasizes the importance of preventive eye care and promotes a patient-centered approach to vision health.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Cognitive Domain (Knowledge and Intellectual Skills)

PEO 1: Graduates will apply knowledge in diagnostic testing with precision and standardization to deliver excellent healthcare services and practical hands-on skills in medical laboratory sciences.

Psychomotor Domain (Clinical and Technical Skills)

PEO 2: Graduates will demonstrate continuous professional growth with a strong problem-solving attitude, commitment to research-driven innovation, enhanced biosafety practices, and environmental sustainability.

Affective Domain (Professional Behavior and Ethics)

PLO 1: MLS Knowledge
Demonstrate the application of medical laboratory science knowledge to identify causes and provide effective solutions for healthcare-related problems.

Identify, formulate, and analyze complex healthcare problems by reviewing literature and using modern diagnostic techniques.
